Aisha Al-Naemi has designed abayas under her own name since 2010 — one of the first Qatari designers to do so. It began with a plain black wrap abaya she made for herself, and the rose embroidery she was first known for. The house is still small by choice: she designs every piece and oversees its making, nothing is produced in advance, and no garment exists until a woman orders it. Cloth is chosen for the design, not bought in bulk — crepe for weight and fall, organza and shantung where a line needs a firmer hand, chiffon where it needs to float. Most pieces carry hand embroidery; where one is plain, it is plain by design.
